I just saw an article about Amazon and it gave me pause to think again about the evolution of big data. It’s everywhere and yet we don’t see it. Check out the link below. Amazon’s mining data about our behavior as a collective whole. (They are awesome at doing this – some of their recommendations are really eerily dead on.) You can click on any state and see which they are leaning based on their book buying decisions. Of course, as they point out, this only measures interest and not commitment, so it’s not necessarily an indication of how the election will go, but it certainly is interesting data that could not have existed when President Reagan was elected.
