Window 7 Login Screen Picture

Windows 7 gives you a lot of options for changing the backgrounds through their themes.  Ever wonder if you could change the picture that is shown on the Windows 7 Logon ?  Turns out it’s really pretty easy.  All you have to do is to create a file named backgroundDefault.jpg and then copy it in to the folder

C:\Windows\System32\oobe\info\Backgrounds

Once you have the picture out there, then you need to open up RegEdit and look for the registry hive

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Authentication\LogonUI\Background

and then set the key OEMBackground = 1.  Now lock your computer and you should see your graphic.  You may have to experiment a little bit to get the right size, but that’s it.  Enjoy!
